KBIA Business BeatI produced the weekly Business Beat program for KBIA-FM, mid-Missouri’s NPR member station, covering business, economics and innovation in mid-Missouri. The show is a collaboration between KBIA and Missouri Business Alert, a digital newsroom covering business across Missouri.

After accepting a pitch from a Missouri Business Alert reporter, I worked with them during the reporting process on story development, source selection and interview questions. Many of the reporters were relatively new to radio so I offered substantial guidance on script writing and voicing. I also taught the reporters how to gather audio using the iPad reporting kits that KBIA was piloting.

After receiving scripts and audio from the Missouri Business Alert reporters, I worked with my editors at KBIA to make any final edits for radio before producing the show in Adobe Audition and posting the show to KBIA’s website. Below are a few of my favorite episodes:
